Waterview Sharks 2026
MEET INFORMATION
(SCROLL DOWN FOR MEET SCHEDULE)
During any given summer swim season, the Sharks participate in several different types of swim meets.
pre-season meets include our inter-squad Blue/Green Meet & scrimmages which may be against teams both in or outside our league. These meets help establish times that will partially determine line-ups for league meets. These meets are not officially scored.
dual meets include any meet during the regular season against a team in the SCCSL (Waterview, Green Woods, Wedgwood & Roslyn) These meets are officially scored and home teams are rotated from season to season.
league meets include those created by the SCCSL board to give swimmers an extra chance to compete. These meets currently include the Relay Carnival and Senior Distance Meet. The Relay Carnival is hosted by Waterview and the Senior distance Meet will be hosted by Roslyn.
Championship meets include 1st Champs and League Champs.
1st Champs encompasses what was once our Mini Champs in addition to 1st Champs. This is hosted by Green Woods each year and typically occurs on the 3rd Saturday morning July after all regular season meets are concluded. Once a swimmer competes in 1st Champs, hehe no longer reports for swim practice but continues to participate in all other team events, including cheering for his fellow swimmers at League Champs!
League Champs is hosted by Wedgwood each year and occurs on the final Friday and Saturday of July. There are two sessions each day, each having pre-determined events. Swimmers who qualify in the top 12 of individual events or top 6 of relay events, report for the evening sessions for finals. Both sessions include other league activities such as 50/50 raffles, spirit wear sales, parent/coaches relays, and aging out ceremonies.
Specific details regarding each meet will be sent the week prior in a Shark Bite team email. FaceBook will also have the details. Any special directions will be given to the swimmers by coaches at practice prior to the meet day. Typically, swimmers arrive one hour prior to the meet start time to check-in and warm-up.
Every effort is made to complete a meet. If weather is a factor, an email will be sent. If no email is sent report to the meet as scheduled. If thunder or lightening occur during a meet, teams will wait in cars until a decision to continue or postpone is made. Do not leave the meet/parking area!
Swimmers and spectators are encouraged to bring appropriate clothing, rain gear, extra towels, etc. Always remember extra water, healthy snacks, or money for the snack bars to fuel up!
Specific meet line-ups are created based on the individual teams we are swimming against. Please do not assume which event or Championship meet you will compete in. All line-ups for home meets are posted on the side of the Sharks Shed. At away meets, line-ups are posted in our teams designated area. It is mandatory that coaches know who is not attending a meet so the line-ups are accurate the day of the meet. Swimmers must notify coaches if they will miss a meet!
If a swimmer becomes ill on meet day, call or text Coach JJ asap at 484-947-1960
Swimmers must compete in 3 regular season meets (Blue-Green Meet, Dual Meets, Relay Carnival, & Senior Distance Swim) to be eligible to swim in Champs. Coaches determine which Championship Meet swimmers compete in, but no swimmer competes in both.
During meets, team members sit together in our designated area. Good sportsmanship is expected at at every meet. All Waterview Swim Team Rules must be followed.
Parents are expected to supervise younger swimmers. The safety of all swimmers, family members, and guests should be every team member’s and every parents’ responsibility. Act quickly, responsibly and courteously to prevent unsafe actions.
